The headline says it all. If you turned on any NY sports talk radio station last week all you heard was “let Sabathia pitch game 6 instead of Pettite” all because the got another days rest due to a rain out. It was sad to see there aren’t any smart callers who actually know what there talking about instead of verbally spewing shit out of their assholes that call these stations. There is no logic to have your Ace pitcher, pitch game six when he is readily available for game 7. As much as game 6 in a series that is 3-2 in your favor is a important win, game 7 is beyond that, its a win or go home, no stop signs give it all you got game.
This is my logic which many will agree if you have half a brain. The Yankees are pitching a 3 man rotation because they don’t trust any other pitcher on the roster to pitch the 4th game. Plain and simple. The foundation is set you have your best 3 pitchers out on the mound. Combined record of the 3 pitchers Sabathia, Burnett and Pettite is an amazing 46-25, which is 4 wins away from saying for every 2 games won they lost 1. For the retarded people out there i’ll explain in a 7 game series first team to 4 wins the series. Say you win you first two games, you lose your third. Now you win your fourth game but lose your 5th game what is the chances your next game will be a win .. its a very high percentage.
The only person you have to really worry about is the Game 1 pitcher which is C.C. Sabathia, the ACE of the Yankees pitching rotation. You have to worry about if he HAS TO pitch 3 games (meaning a series goes 7 games) is there enough rest between starts to make it happen. That is the only issue/problem to arise other then that here are the outcomes of the 3 man rotation with a dominate Game 1 Pitcher:
Ok Sabathia pitches game 1 hopefully receiving a win. Now between your next two trusted starters (Burnett and Pettite) you hope for at least one win out of either of them. If you are so lucky to have both your game 2 and 3 pitcher win their games then you have Sabathia to lock down the series winning game 4 sweep. That’s one outcome.
Another outcome is Sabathia gets his game 1 win then out of the next two starters you break even with a win and a loss, now you have your Ace pitching a pivotal game 4 to assume a big series turning lead to 3-1 in your favor. That is a huge step in the right direction momentum wise. Your sitting at 3-1 with your second and third best pitchers trying to win the series for you. If those two pitchers blow game 5 & 6 you then have your BEST pitcher throwing game 7. Which if you did drop games 5 and 6 you put some confidence back into your team by sending out your best available pitcher out there to win the series for you.
If Sabathia gives you 2 wins and each of your second and third starters give you at least one a piece the series is over.
To just want to trot a guy out there every chance you can to win games because your scared is not logical. In this case Andy Pettite who has an unmatched amazing postseason career (16 Wins 9 Loses with a 3.83 ERA) and knows how to pitch in important games, pitching for a game 6 in which i would have no problem trusting him every time. He might not be the best pitcher on the team but he will give you quality postseason starts which not many pitchers have even accomplished or had the chance to experience in their career.
Only reason to go with a 3 pitcher rotation is because you trust all 3 of those guys to give you at least one win and one pitcher having a good series and getting 2 wins. That will win you 7 game series every time, and put you over the top to win a World Series.
Now with the Yankees in the World Series vs. the Phillies I think they should stick to the game plan with the 3 pitcher rotation. Hope your pitching stays solid and your offense produces the run support to put the pitcher at ease to pitch lights out baseball. I really think this is the best shot the Yankees have at winning it, and Joe G. I salute you for sticking to your game plan.

It was an absolute blast getting together and playing 9 holes of Par3 Golf with my friends for a beautiful summer night. We all had lots of fun, but learned a lesson. Bring more beer next time to stash in our bags while playing. We ran out of beer by the 4th hole on my team, but the other team wound up stretching it out to 7 holes with beer. Charlie wound up winning the whole thing, figures because he played on the Golf Team in college (gay). We all held our own and counted every stroke so there is no CAP to the amount of strokes counted.
Surprise golfer of the night was Steven who came in 3rd and seemed to be on the green after his first shot almost every time while racking up an eagle or two. The Shit-Show award for the most comical/drunk golfer goes to Glenn for being wrecked by the 9th hole and dropping his rented putter into the water because he thought it was as deep as the putt-putt waters usually are. He was mistaken, but in turn we got to dunk his drunk ass in the water to try to retrieve the club even though we found out in the end the guy running the course didn’t care.
Below is a video of everyones first tee shot, believe me your going to laugh at the peanut gallery jokes of us all teeing off for each other to see. If you would like to see pictures taken at the course click here. It was a great time all around, look out for our next outing, which will only be bigger and more of a shit show.

Now only one Dirty Dalerz guy knows how to truly golf because he played for a College team ‘SUNY Farmingdale’, but that doesn’t hold back the rest of the DirtyDalerz from actually going out there and taking a couple of hacks. In making plans for the weekend and wanting to do something both involving drinking and having fun competing we are traveling to Deer Park for the First Annual Dirty Dalerz Golf Open. We will be teeing off at Heartland Par 3 golf course, which sports famous Par 3′s from many golf courses around the world. With a scheduled 6 golfers on the course tonight they will battle it out against all odds and inebriation for the title of Dirty Dalerz Golf Open Champion. Of course the beer will be flowing like the 7th hole on the mini-golf’s putt-putt waterfall during the course of the match but of course as we all start finding out grooves heading to the 9th hole the competition will get fierce. Here are a handful of player written profiles for tonights even:
Brian “Slow and Steady” Cinelli
Known to lace up the golf cleats and dress in funny outfits he hits the course with his trademark “Slow and Steady” wins the race attitude. His strong points being his Irons and putting it on the green he should have a good outing at Heartland Par 3 course. Now his drives out the box and putting has been an issue. His nerves get to him and usually starts with a slow roller out the tee box with hopes of hitting the fair way, coupled with getting the shakes on the green and failing to hit two foot putts. His form is great, but form doesn’t always win you the match. Known to also loosen up after a few beers lets see if this will give him the edge over the favorites Charlie Spahr and Tommy Cinelli.
Tommy “Ruff” Cinelli
I have been playing golf all my life! As you can see from the picture above Tommy suffers from a wicked slice that has bugged him his whole life. Tonight that will all come to an end as Tommy “RUFF” Cinelli will actually play a good round of golf all the way up to hole 9 where he gets nervous and puts the ball in the water every shot he has. I going to attack the golf course and greens trying to win at all costs. Big thing stay out of the Ruff and in the fairway. Also booze and get fucked up in the process. John Daly for President!!
Charlie “Watch Your Back” Spahr *Favorite
Well i started playing golf at around the age of 8. Im 25 now, so that gives me about 17 years of golf experience. Ive played for a while now so I’d like to say that my game is pretty good. Getting off the tee can be a little rough and most of the time i have no fucking idea where the hell its going to go. The iron play is my strong point but still i have some good days and some bad. Putting is always going to be a damn mystery for me, considering I’ve tried just about everything. LOL.. When I play along with bud light i tend to have a little bit of a better day due to loosening up. Always helps. Well see what happens tonight as I try to take the trophy!
Rob “The Sneak” Goetchius
This guy only cares about drinking…he will be sneaking in his natty light and making sure that no one under estimates the power that beer can have on someone’s game…not only does he use his sneakiness to get beer in to help improve his game but beware because he might sneak in a throw of a golf ball instead of a swing in order to help his game along…he might not be the best golfer out there, at least sober, but somehow he always finishes near the top…they don’t call him the sneak for no reason
Chris “Stroke it like Barkley” Caraballo
Golf is not my strong point was picked up during my freshman year of college. Learning at the great campus of nassau community college is where I developed such a sweet swing that I actually thought “Hey I can actually go on tour and make some extra cash” … But little did I know, I sucked. At this point charles barkely with the ugliest swing in the world could probably beat me and even he would be making that extra cash on the side. But overall I guess all I need is one mulligan. But I’m siked let’s play some holes!
Glenn Cinelli
Well i must say my short game is really good from all the minputt and tiger woods games through the years….i use the happy gilmore swing and have the patience of a school girl… But some have said i look and played like michelle wie lol
Jimmy “Chubbs” Hering
Ive been away from the game for a few years…and when I say that I mean I havnt been to the driving range in a while.what I lack in skill and form I make up for in good looks, and if all else fails I’m not too proud to cheat
The Official score card will be scanned after play and a picture of the Champion Shot Gunning a beer will be posted.

I very rarely talk about companies that I will stick to because there so amazing all around that I’ll always bring my business to them. Rarely now a days it’s hard to find a great product, at a great price, and have amazing customer service. I don’t know if that is asking a lot but that is what I look for when you want my customer loyalty. After a while I lost hope looking out for companies that had that all around qualities. Until I had bought my first Softball Bat from Demarini.

2009 Demarini White Steel
This bat pictured is my second bat from Demarini which is the 2009 Demarini White Steel and will get to the story involving that purchase and history in a second. My first bat was purchased for $190 named the 2008 Demarini White Steel. It was the first year this bat was in production and I took a big gamble on buying a bat that wasn’t a proven monster. It looked really attractive and was mysterious in its looks and feel. It felt somewhat balanced in weight but end loaded, which is difficult to find in a two piece bat. Two piece meaning the barrel and the handle are manufactured separately then put together for the final product. Every time you hold it in your hands you feel so comfortable that it meets all your needs to put the ball where you need to put it and drive it with power.

2008 Demarini White Steel
The gamble paid off and since the purchase everyone who has hit with the bat and myself have become a believer in the Demarini White Steel and its all around versatility to all hitters of power AND contact. They say its not the bat .. its the hitter, but when your confident you have the best piece of equipment to get the job done in your hands it only builds your confidence in yourself to produce the needed outcome whether it be a home run or a single up the middle. I have won 3 championships and been in a total of 4 Championship series where all those teams utilized the bat as a majority. That is a lot of swings for one bat, in which most bats start to break down after about 500 hits thereafter. This bat has put up well over 500 hits and still hits pretty well. Only after 2 years of straight up knocking the stuffing out of the ball has it blurred the graphics on the bat, been re-gripped and has one VERY MINOR chip in the paint job. Most people will tell you that is un-heard of with a bat. This only solidifies my trust in Demarini for future bat purchases, in which in October 2008 I purchased the 2009 model of the White Steel.
The price for the 2009 White Steel was basically the same amount as 2008 model but with a different paint job to make the barrel look as if it was truly steel. Another minor change in detail was now the handle is white with a graphite look at certain parts. Automatically it started hitting like its predecessor, and the pure giddiness to step up to the plate and take some swings with it came out in everyone who handled it. I used the bat for a Fall league from October to early November. The weather never really dipped below 60 degrees during use but at the end of the season I noticed a small dent starting to form when I hand checked the barrel. You could not distinguish a dent visually but you could feel it somewhat in your hands. That is when I called Demarini’s customer service to notify them of my issue.
Upon calling them I explained my story and immediately they told me to send the bat in for a replacement. I was surprised that I didn’t have to jump through hoops to get my problem fixed. The customer service gave me a reference number and told me to ship the bat to there address with the receipt and all would be taken care of. The bat was shipped then received by them within about 3-4 days, when in turn they sent a replacement brand new bat to me same model and weight in a very timely manner. The bat arrived at my doorstep via UPS no more then two weeks after I had initially sent my bat to them. That is amazing turn around time to me for a company that resides in Oregon. Tonight we finally get to put the bat back to work again along side the 2007 model and I am confident it will live up to the companies name and quality they provide.

2009 Demarini White Steel in my possession
It sounds like this is a paid review from Demarini but I assure you there has been no money exchanged and no favors done other then living up to there end of there One Year replacement policy if anything goes wrong with the bat. This is stuff you don’t see from many companies of ANYTHING now a days. With how everything took place it warrented a write up on the site with backing and approval from the Dirty Dalerz softball team and all other teams I play on as well as myself. Demarini I thank you for your outstanding products and customer service. I recommend Demarini for your softball bat needs. You can find amazing prices at closeoutbats.com where I purchase all of my Demarini bats and products with quick shipping and service as well.

Let me start out by saying this is solely my opinion, but since I have a website and you don’t I get to put my opinion out into the public and you don’t (unless you comment or have your own site). I have been a New York Yankees fan my whole life and never wavered in my support for the Yanks. Even through birth I was supposed to be a Mets fan, since I was born only mere miles away from the stadium in Queens at Hillcrest General Hospital. My brothers and I have just always been die hard Yankees fans and never gave up. Of course we had the glory years 96′ to 00′ full of championships, but we were fans long before the Dynasty and still are today through the ups and downs either through there play or off the field activity.
Now that you have a little background on my Yankees support, I will tell you why they are failing this year so far. Currently they are sitting on a 13-12 record in the AL East behind Toronto and then the Red Sox. The Yanks have yet to play Toronto but has played Red Sox 4 times thus far and have lost all 4, but have also lost 3 of those games by less then 3 runs or less. In one of those games Jason Bay homered in the 9th to extend it to extra innings and K.Youkilis homered in the 11th to eventually win the game. Ok, that is not horrible blown saves come rarely from Mariano Rivera but they seem to be coming more frequent with his old age but I love Mo so much he could blow 10 saves in a row and he’ll still be the best closer in my lifetime. Those were some tough loses to watch.
What the Yankees are becoming notorious for as of this season is leaving Runners In Scoring Position (RISP). They are 3rd to last in the AL with RISP, which a team with so much talent up and down the batting order should be leading the league in RBI’s but instead are 4th from last in that category as well. I might be a little hard on the Yankees by pointing this out so early in this season but they were only .006 higher at the end of last year in this category with RISP.
There pitching will come along but you need to be able to put up runs to make sure your pitcher feels confident his team will give him cushion so he doesn’t have to pitch a perfect game. Any pitcher is going to do better when he has a lead his teammates gave him to protect. Yankees pitching hasn’t been the GREATEST but there keeping most teams at bay with low scoring but the Yanks haven’t been producing much.
Regardless when A-Rod gets back into the lineup and gives more power in the middle of the batting order hopefully it will all turn around. When Cano is batting .349 and Melky right behind him at the top batting .317 leading the Yanks in batting average you know something is up. Hopefully they improve on this if they have any chance of coming out of the AL east for the playoffs this year. I know it’s early to even mention the P word but every game counts towards it when fighting for a spot in the best Division in the Majors.

I think this is at least the third or fourth time I have talked about my hate for the new york media here on dirtydalerz.com. It never stops when it comes to the New York Media (mostly newspapers and news organizations), and how they go for blood when reporting stories. As you all know Joba Chamberlain got a DUI a couple of months ago and pleaded “Guilty”. Here is an excerpt from Joba Chamberlain’s wikipedia profile on the DUI incident.
On October 18, 2008 at 1:00 a.m., Chamberlain was arrested in Nebraska for suspicion of driving under the influence, speeding and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. A Nebraska State Patrol spokesperson said Chamberlain was stopped for speeding on U.S. 77 near his hometown of Lincoln. His arraignment was postponed four times: in December 2008, January 2009, and twice in March 2009, all by Chamberlain’s request. He pleaded guilty to drunken driving and was sentenced to probation on April 1, 2009.
Everyone more then likely knows someone who has been convicted of a DUI or DWI, got locked up for the night, and suffered the consequences. Your wrong for driving if you have been drinking alcohol, everyone knows that. That is life though you live and you learn from your mistakes. I’m almost positive he is embarrassed by what happened and since has released an apology and disappointment in his actions. Right then and there it should be a thing of the past unless he breaks probation or gets another DUI. I don’t judge him, he is a 23 year old male who makes the same mistakes as any of us but it gets blown out of proportion and gets thrown under the microscope.

This news paper cover from the ‘New York Post’ almost half a year later is seriously overkill and a downright nasty jab at Joba. It is so uncalled for, like I mentioned earlier he is a young man who made a really common mistake that could of been deadly but it wasn’t but he is paying the consequences like the rest of us. I’m almost positive he wants to just put all this behind him but him being a Yankee which means living under a microscope is kind of unfair. With success comes the pressure of the media and of course the bullish New York Media. There are more important things going on in this world like the economy and people losing there jobs then reporting on Joba Chamberlins DUI six months after the incident.
They also bring up comments made by Joba about people who are not courteous in New York. The media in twisted and turned his words into him making a jab at all New Yorkers. Quite honestly most New Yorkers aren’t courteous. I am constantly seeing fights over courtesy on train rides and people accidentally walking into one another on crowded streets and platforms and not even apologizing. Its not far fetched from what he said when he encountered the police officer who courteously opened the door for Joba to the police station and said ‘he doesn’t really get that in New York’. To turn it into a media friendly as if Joba is anti-New York just to sell some newspapers is downright ridiculous.
This is why I stopped buying newspapers except for Sunday Editions because of the bullshit they sling at you through there paper and ink. Just because you have a public platform it doesn’t give you the right to blast him and think your right. Its just very upsetting to see this happen nowadays. Thats my gripe, take it or leave it.

The rising salary of professional athletes has been viewed as a serious crisis of the major spectator sports in America. Although players’ salaries are on the rise, so are the revenues generated through greater sponsorship deals and sales of television rights. Although sponsorships are on the downfall with many revoking their sponsorship agreements with several big name stars foe example, Buick with Tiger Woods. Who are we to say that the Yankees have overpaid their players? The team is running a billion dollar business. It strives hard to win the title and entertain the fans by retaining the best ball players in the world. Aren’t maximizing the wins and profits legitimate goals of every franchise or should be? If a baseball fan has an extra $25 to spend on a baseball ticket, wouldn’t he/she rather go to a Yankee game seeing super stars instead of the Pirates or Orioles game? The Yankees could possibly generate 377 million extra dollars per year.
Based on the above analysis, do you still think that players are asking too much? Fans and scholars may complain about how much athletes make. But in fact the owners are the ones who give Sabathia 160 million or Arod 275 million! The only time I hear anything is when a new stadium is involved and we have to shell out money of the taxpayer to build these stadiums and the enmities around it. However the Yankees are building the whole stadium themselves and are only asking for money from the state for the building surrounding the stadium to make a better stadium for you the fan who is complaining like a baby! A comedian once made a joke. As a Yankee fan I don’t really care what owners spend on players as long as the best players to win a championship are on my team. Doesn’t always help to have superstars stake on a team with all the big salaries. Hence the 2008 Yankees! Most of the competitive advantage from the small markets and big markets giving these athletes money is big. However, big market teams who spend more money have to pay luxury tax which is disbursed to low level teams to keep a level playing field. Also these low level teams don’t have to take the money given to them in luxury tax to pay for players. Most of them use it in other ways. I believe they should have a rule to make them spend it on players and nothing else so we can see the Royals in the World Series, or the Panthers in the Stanley Cup. Like to hear some responses so make sure you comment below in the comments section.
So my questions to you is:
Are you sick of these mega million dollar athlete salaries?
And Are they good for the Sport?
Is it fair that all these big market teams can spend more money bc they have it?
Top Ten Athlete earning in 2007 (b/c 2008 just finished)

It’s about that time in sports when the NFL starts its Playoff games. With the NFC & AFC teams being solidified and the rounds are going to be under way. It was a great season, a season in which many milestones were achieved.
The New York Football Giants had a pair of 1,000 yard rushers for only the 4th time in NFL history. The Detroit Lions gained the title of the only team in NFL history to lose 16 games in a season. Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens broke his own NFL held record for longest interception return with a 108 yarder against the Eagles.
And then the near miss at NFL greatness by Drew Brees who fell only 16 yards short of the most yards thrown for in an NFL season held by none other then the great Dan Marino. (insert Pick of Dan Marino side by side with Drew Brees) But only 12 teams made it to the Playoff Plateau and from here a true champion will be crowned.
NFC –
The NFC this year was the conference that stood out the most. With the World Champion New York Giants (12-4) taking hold over the number 1 seed and solidifying home field advantage throughout the entire playoffs, and the Carolina Panthers (12-4) grabbing hold of the number 2 seed to get a first round bye. However, the trend between these two top tier NFC teams was the imposing ground attacks both displayed. The Giants have the Earth, Wind and Fire Trio (Jacobs, Ward and Bradshaw, respectively) that absolutely dominated other opposing teams run defenses.
Jacobs used his brute strength and devastating hits to really soften up the defense and then Ward with his great field vision, speed and great hands to catch defenses off guard and Bradshaw was supplemented in from time to time to really go for the “home run” against teams who just couldn’t catch there breathe. Now the Panthers had the Smash & Dash combo of Deangelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart to basically do the same. Where Williams chewed up defenses with his ability to turn plays to the outside and his elite speed to leave defenders tackling air. Where as Stewart is the prototypical goal line back who will never be denied from within the 5 yard line. Also these two teams have stingy defenses who absolutely take over games and make the life of opposing quarterbacks hell.
Also a part of the NFC playoffs picture are the Red Hot Atlanta Falcons (11-5) who being led by Rookie of the Year Matt Ryan have been making there place among the NFC elite known this year. Also WR Roddy White has made a name for himself this year leaving many people thinking he is a top 5 wide receiver in the league. The Falcons who are In a wild card match up against the Arizona Cardinals (9-7) who have one of the top receiving corps with Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin with sure handed slot receiver Steve Breaston rounding them out, are just absolutely carving up defensive secondaries. Also finely aged QB Kurt Warner makes this team a high flying thrill ride that could very well upset the Falcons if they are all on point.
Then Finally you have the Philadelphia Eagles (9-6-1) who have caught fire as of late after the 44-6 dismantling of the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles have one of the best quarterbacks under center in Donovan Mcnabb and one of the best running backs when healthy out of Brian Westbrook. When these 2 are on top of there games they form the one of the best tandems in football. With rookie WR Desean Jackson as a top receiving threat on the Eagles Roster they could very well have found there swagger. However, the Minnesota Vikings (10-6) will try to put some water on the Eagles fire. The Vikings have the best running back in football in Adrian Petersen who can run, cut, catch, block and if they really needed him to I bet he could throw a couple of passes. The guy is the best back bar none in football and his yards he has put up the last two years bolsters this opinion. With a guy like Petersen toting the rock anything is possible and he could be the x-factor that pushes the Vikings to victory. Also with an emergence out of the receiving end of things comes Bernard Berrian and his fantastic speed up the sideline also Visanthe Shiancoe has sprung out of nowhere to become a formidable TE.
My personal opinion is that the Falcons lay waste to the Cardinals and the Eagles have a hard fought battle against the Vikings. Then the Panthers take it to the Falcons in the second round and go on to the NFC title Game. The Giants have a great game against the Eagles and emerge as the winner to play the Panthers. Now in the NFC championship game and a repeat of the amazing week 16 match up the Giants and Panthers, beat each other up and the Giants however take home the NFC crown thanks to the HOME CROWD help.
AFC-
The AFC was rather unusual this year with the teams that came out on top. The Tennessee Titans (13-3) make a case as the best team in football behind one of the best Defenses around. With veterans like Keith Bulluck and Albert Haynesworth stuffing the run harder than a turkey on thanksgiving, not many teams could handle the punishment these guys dished out. Cortland Finnegan totally shutting down opposing teams number one receivers they have proven to be maybe the top defensive team in football. However the Titans have a well rounded set of Running Backs. Chris Johnson the rookie sensation is just showing how he could possibly be the fastest running back in the NFL with his supreme field awareness he is a total asset to the titans success. Lendale White has established himself as one of the best Goal line Vultures in the NFL by racking up touchdown after touchdown in the red-zone.
The Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4) without a doubt are the best defensive team in the NFL with the titans close behind. With Troy Polamalu as the safety who hits people with reckless abandonment and also has some of the stickiest hands for a defensive back makes the Steelers have that amazing aura of your not tougher than us. Also with Linebackers such as James Harrison and Lamar Woodley gobbling up Quarterbacks like its nothing puts an absolute fear in the opposing team’s offensive lines and QB’s. However there Offense is just as capable with Roethlisberger slinging the pigskin and Hines Ward Receiving you never know when this team will go off on a tear.
Also for the first round of wildcard match ups you have the Indianapolis Colts (12-4) who have the best quarterback in football out of Peyton Manning just taking it to opposing teams. Manning is the best thing going for the colts on offense but with a wideout like Reggie Wayne and TE like Dallas Clark, a stigma for greatness is easily obtained. The colts are Okay on the Defense when Bob Sanders isn’t there but when Sanders is heathly they are really good. Sanders adds run support that no other safety in the league can. With two book ends out of Dwight Freeney and Rashean Mathis you never know how many sacks this defense could have in a day. They are up against the San Diego Chargers (8-8) who should not even be in the playoffs and I’m leaving it at that.
In the other matchup you have the Baltimore Ravens (11-5) who have a solid rookie qb out of Joe “Cool” Flacco and a nice running back by committee out of Willis Mcgahee and Leron McClain as well as Ray Rice. But the Ravens Dazzle on defense as always. With Ray Lewis, Haoli Ngata and Ed Reed they just lay waste to any and all offensive attacks. They are matched up against the Miami Dolphins (11-5). They are the Diamond in the Rough this playoff and will be a force. Chad Pennington has revived his career and is a true leader on the gridiron. With Ronnie Brown running the “wildcat” offense he can explode at any time and Anthony Fasano just making it look easy at TE makes teams wonder what they are really capable of. Joey Porter anchors the Miami Defense and Porter just makes offensive lines look stupid as he racks up sack after sack after sack. My personal opinion is that the Colts oust the Chargers sending them packing and Tomlinson can watch the rest of the playoffs on his vizio.
Then the Dolphins continue there streak behind defensive minded coach Tony Sparano and give Flacco headaches. Then I think the Colts play a tough battle against a stingy Titans team but pull out a win. And the Dolphins lose this game to the Steelers who turn the Wildcat into a Kitten. Then the Colts clash with the Steelers and lose on the power and presence of Peyton Manning and Co.
Overall, The Superbowl will be a “MANNING EVENT” and the two teams beat the ever loving crap out of each other just in time for little brother Eli to step out of Peyton’s shadow and capture his 2nd ring in as many years. I would love to hear some comments on this post and your own personal opinions. Let me know what you think by commenting below this post.

Yankees not wanting not to participate in the MLB playoffs went out and made a huge statement this offseason. To the tune of, $423 million invested in a trio of ballplayers. Safe to say, the Yankees were not scared off by the $27 million luxury-tax bill for 2008 which the Yankees are the only team that can do so because of the extreme revenue they pull in between the their own tv network, new ballpark and ticket prices.
First, the Yankee brass, ready to flex their financial muscle, the Yankees got their man they have all along wanted by getting CC Sabathia to be their No. 1 starter, something the yanks haven’t had in a while, by adding the top starter on the open market. They got him for a robust 7yrs/ 161 million dollars. Over paid perhaps but its what the doctored ordered.
Grade= A- (just because nobody should make that kind of money)
A.J. Burnett would be up next and it was kind of a domino effect after CC was signed, that the Yankees would sign a few more. Burnett was the first pitcher to use his opt-out clause to the tune of five years and $82.5 million given to him by the Yankees. He would now fit in as the number 2 starter after CC. Only thing that worries me is his injuries. He has had one full season in the bigs and that came in his contract year last year with the Blue Jays. What a time to have your best year. $$$$$.
Grade= B- (too injury prone)
Now all New York’s general manager had to do is explain to Mark Teixeira that if he was looking for a legacy and a monument that he had room at the bag for him and maybe over the center field fence with Ruth and Donny Baseball after he finishes his careear. The money spoke loudly though to a tune of 8yrs/ 180 million dollars and Tex came a running also influencing him was that he was born on the east coast and so is his wife. This brings a great bat to hit behind AROD but more importantly it brings us a superior gold glove defender something we haven’t had their in years.
Grade= A+
It’s a $423 million investment in a trio of ballplayers. Is it crazy? YES. But , if you’re a Yankee fan u love it because it makes your team better and keeps another name out of the red sox clubhouse. Does it gurrantee us playoffs? No. With the AL East how it is the Rays and Red Sox are good. This will gives us more firepower when we go up against them. I do see playoffs this year though.
Needs Remaining: CF…..Bullpen

Everyone knows my love for football. I also have another love when football season is around and that is Fantasy Football. Last year I was in FOUR fantasy football leagues. This year only three because I want to together more quality teams and be able to actually track who I’m going to test out on one team for a week to use on my other teams.
I have one philosophy when picking my team. If there isn’t one of the top 3 stud backs to be picked go for a Quarterback who will never get injured because of a strong solid offensive line. Last year I rode Peyton Manning to a championship in my most intense league and made some great trades down the stretch with guys I got lucky with off waivers for more studs. Everyone wants the mainstream name guys like Moss, Brady, Peterson and Tomlinson. People fail to realize those guys only count for a fraction of the points you pick up. Your money picks are in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds. Those players are the players you must rely on to back up your stud when he does have the 2-3 games he’ll suck in. Or in my case picking Tom Brady first round to only have him be injured for the year after 2 quarters of play.
I didn’t panic but I remembered it’s not about the stud its about the supporting cast. It’s kind of just like a movie for example ‘The Dark Knight’. Everyone knows Christian Bale will deliver an amazing performance but your not going to have him star in every second of the movie, you need supporting actors. Ok, no one though Heath Ledger could ever out perform Jack Nicholson as the joker.
You didn’t see it coming but you sit down and watch the movie and you forget Christian Bale is even in the movie. Heath Ledger was my Brandon Marshall last year. Oh, don’t worry I wanted him for the squeal this year as well even though he was out the first game. Now go on to two face, no one knew he was going to be in the movie other then his normal before the face burning self. But yet another surprise to movie goers. Just when you thought “Ok, I found one diamond in the rough I’m lucky!” you go on to find another great player who stepped up into a starting role for a hurt player. Enter Wes Welker who was my Harvey Two Face. He was picked up from the Dolphins to the New England Patriots. He is a small white receiver and punt returner who no one thought would get any touches. Oh he not only got tons of touches, he totaled 1,175 yards and 8 touchdowns. That’s what I call a great pickup. Enough of these movie references.
Now, what really pisses me off with fantasy football these past 3 years is the whole Running Back By Committee (RBBC). That throws you off with your running backs who aren’t all-purpose backs. By that I mean, a running back who will get touches in the red-zone and have 85 % of the teams carries from the backfield.
Now, almost every team except 3 or 4 have RBBC. For example, the most popular team with RBBC is the Jacksonville Jaguars. They have Fred Taylor who would get many touches on any team and Maurice Jones-Drew who is so quick he tends to get more yards from scrimmage then Taylor. They split carries almost 50-50 and both get carries in the red-zone. You never know who is going to get you the points. One could have a monster day with yards and the other back could have all the touchdowns with little yardage for the day. That throws a wrench in your team for sure. That is why you just have to try to pick backs that will get those red-zone carries but it’s a huge gamble.
Well .. as the football season goes on I’m sure I’ll mention more Fantasy Football here.
